Microsoft Ventures opens an accelerator in Seattle, applications open

Microsoft Ventures

Microsoft Ventures, the startup branch of the company, has recently opened an accelerator in Seattle, and is looking for more candidates to attend.

Previously, they were only looking for stratups working in home automation or the IoT sector, but they have begun to expand their focus, stating:

We are also announcing our next Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Seattle dedicated to Digital Work. The next cohort will focus on startups building scalable productivity applications, cloud-centric software platforms and enterprise-grade solutions to help people get more done.

The startups who have worked out of the accelerator have done well, too. The startups that have graduated from our accelerators have seen great success, with 80% receiving an average funding of $1.9M (USD) within a year from graduation.

I put together a power point deck on venture capital and some more details about MS Ventures earlier this year. You can find that here.
