Xamarin Hack day at Microsoft Malvern on Sat, March 14

Xamarin Hack Day

James Nichols, founder of the Philadelphia Xamarin meetup group has recently begun to build a new event for Xamarin developers in the Philadelphia area.

Not familiar with Xamarin? This San Francisco based company has been working on the Mono Project for the last several years, which is an open source implementation of Microsoft’s .NET framework.

What does this mean for you? Well you can now write C# code and have it work across an array of devices, including iOS, Android, and Windows Phones. They do much more than that, but you at least have the gist.

This saves you the trouble of having to work with multiple IDEs, operating systems, and languages, just to get your app out the door. Instead, you can use Xamarin’s IDE, Mono Develop, or write Visual Studio. You’ll still need a machine with OSX with Xcode installed to publish to Apple’s App Store though, as it remains the only way to attach your Apple Developer certificate to your iOS application.

James is now coordinating Xamarin Hack Day, which will be hosted out of our Microsoft Malvern office on Saturday, March 14th. We’re continuing to add more details as the date approaches, but head to the link above to register now.

UPDATE:: The schedule is on the Xamarin page
