I love playing old video games, as well as learning about the development process behind the titles, not only to compare and contrast against the tools and games we have today, but also to better understand where we are going as an industry.
My goal with this series is to take many of my “Let’s Plays”, where I record footage of my gameplay through games of the 80s and 90s, and overlaying audio and narration about the development of that title. I’ll also have my notes for each game within the blog post, so that you can see where I’m gathering much of this information and follow along.
There is no shortage of “Let’s Plays” on the internet, and I know I’ve seen many of them, particularly around FMV (Full Motion Video) titles. I wanted something different – part gameplay entertainment, but also a way that I could learn while I’m going through this process, so that’s where I got the idea from.

I’ve you’ve worked on a game in the 80s or 90s, I’d love to pick your brain, either on the Indie Dev Podcast, or for my own notes. Reach out to me if you are interested!
